Bio
From the educational side, I have a BS in Accounting, MBA, a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), a Certified Financial Manager (CFM), a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt (CSSYB).
Most of my experience has been with NYSE publicly traded companies. I have always worked in a Lean environment and have worn many hats. I've overseen global entities from the financial side and have traveled and worked in over 17 countries. I have lived in Germany, UK, Belgium, and Turkey, setting up and optimizing operations.
I am currently the Director of Finance/Site Controller for a 501(c)(3) nonprofit pharmaceutical company outside Richmond, VA. This is a greenfield facility focused on providing medicines for drugs in shortage and on making generic medicines affordable to all.
Prior Experience
I have built financial teams throughout my career, both in the US and internationally. I loved learning and teaching others what I had learned. While building financial teams, I have learned a great deal from others as well. In a former job, I started a college internship (paid) program with the local colleges. To this day, I still receive thanks from the former interns and teammates for what they learned.
Why Mentor?
When I began my career, a few team members took me under their wing and showed me how to become a business partner rather than a number cruncher.
I have been part of many site / global leadership teams as a business partner. Accountants are often labeled as backroom number crunchers. Many of the people I have hired over my career are often in this category. Seeing people grow and learn is a joy I cannot explain. I learned from teaching others as well.
