Bio
I served four years in the United States military before earning a degree in Accounting from The University of Iowa and a Master’s in Tax from the University of Minnesota. I began my career with Deloitte in Minneapolis, focusing on private wealth and later working within a multi-generational family office environment. I founded a fee-only wealth advisory practice and later returned to public accounting as a fractional CFO before being recruited as a full-time Chief Financial Officer by one of my clients. I am now self-employed, with work spanning government contracting advisory, financial planning and analysis, and personal financial coaching. I am also the mother of four children — two currently in college (one at West Point and one in the business school at USC Columbia) and two in high school, with plans to pursue military service and business education. As a mentor, I listen carefully to both what is said and what is implied. I help mentees gain clarity, think strategically, and move forward with structure and confidence while defining their own path.
Prior Experience
For over twenty years, I have mentored women in a structured, accountability-based community, providing one-on-one guidance focused on discipline, behavioral change, and long-term growth, both individually and within team settings. I also work formally and informally as a financial coach, helping individuals clarify priorities, build structured systems, and execute consistently toward defined goals. My experience with young adults has primarily come through raising four children, including guiding them through college planning, military pathways, and early career decisions.
Why Mentor?
I would not be where I am today without people ahead of me who were willing to invest their time and perspective in my development. Their guidance materially shaped my confidence, decisions, and trajectory. Serving as a Sparks mentor is an opportunity to give back in a meaningful way — to offer clarity, perspective, and encouragement to students at a formative stage in their lives.
