Bio

After a 20John+ year career with Johnson & Johnson, Steve retired in July 2022 and in July 2023 became CEO and a Board Member of SanMelix Laboratories, Inc., a privately-held product technology company that specializes in skin care and wound care products using buckwheat honey and other natural ingredients that offer superior solutions for burns, anti-aging, hydration, scarring and moist wound healing.

In addition, Steve is an investor and advisor to several microcap companies in the cyber security, international payment, and AI industries. Steve is also the Chair, Emeritus of The Foundation for Supply Chain Solutions (F4SS), an industry association focused on improving the capabilities of, networking, benchmarking and education of Supply Chain leaders across Household, Health & Beauty, and Food & Beverage CPGs and their External Manufacturers, Contract Packagers and other Solution Providers. F4SS is focused on understanding key trends and cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain, IoT, cyber security and other systems that enable data transparency and flows to remove barriers in supply chain planning, manufacturing and distribution.

Prior to his retirement, Steve was the Head, Supply Chain & Operations for Zarbee’s, Inc., a J&J operating company focused on supplements and natural solutions for coughs, immunity, sleep and wellness for the entire family. Steve was responsible for the entire operations value chain for Zarbee’s, providing end-to-end supply chain leadership and developing supply chain capabilities to enable continued business growth for the brand as it integrated into J&J.

Throughout his 20+-year tenure at Johnson & Johnson, Steve had a proven track record for streamlining and strengthening capabilities, leveraging new technologies and creating best-in-class process improvements across a variety of supply chain teams, leading the creation of new supply chains for growth initiatives, new ventures, new products and acquisitions & divestitures for Consumer.

Prior Experience

At Johnson & Johnson, I was a mentor to multiple younger employees during my career, with one who advanced to a Director role and still mentor him. My last year at J&J I was a reverse mentor as well. I speak at high school and guest lecture at Rutgers University Business School (undergraduate and MBA level) where I share learnings, insights and stories that can help students as they start their journeys.

Why Mentor?

My first boss was a wonderful leader and helped me in so many ways. I asked how I could ever pay him back and he said to me "just do the same for others". Thus, I have always looked for opportunities to train, mentor, teach and be a resource to help develop others. I currently lead a start-up company and believe my experiences in start-up, pseudo-start-up and Fortune 50 companies across multiple functions would be valuable to and could help young leaders as they start their professional careers.
