Bio

Cem is a seasoned global operations and quality executive who retired from Colgate-Palmolive at the end of 2024 after a distinguished career spanning more than three decades. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Quality for Oral Care Products & Warehousing, where he led quality and compliance across 18 manufacturing sites, 15 contract facilities, and over 200 warehouses. He managed a $35M operating budget and 525 employees, driving 15% revenue growth to $20B and increasing gross margin by 300 basis points. His agile onboarding strategy for contract manufacturers reduced launch timelines from 18 months to just 3, enabling over $100M in new product revenue. He delivered $50M+ in savings through packaging redesign, raw material optimization, and flexible sourcing.
Cem’s career at Colgate included global leadership roles in supply chain strategy, manufacturing, and engineering. As Global Director of Supply Chain Strategy & Planning, he led a firmwide restructuring that centralized procurement, shifted production to low-cost regions, and delivered $400M+ in annual savings. He oversaw 150+ projects impacting 5,000 employees and 30 plants. As Director of Manufacturing Engineering Technology, he led 26 senior engineers supporting $2.5B in business and achieved $50M in savings through innovations in process technologies for brands like Suavitel, Palmolive, and Fabuloso.
Earlier, as Director of Supply Chain for Colgate-Palmolive Turkey and Central Asia, Cem managed a complex organization of 400+ employees across three plants and regional logistics operations, supplying 20 countries. He conceived and built Colgate’s highest-efficiency, low-cost plant in Istanbul, supporting Central Europe and Central Asia with a $16M investment.
Since retiring, Cem has continued to share his expertise as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers Business School, where he taught three courses and engaged with over 100 students. He personally advised and coached four students over the past six months, helping them develop leadership skills and navigate career paths. His mentorship legacy spans his corporate career, where he guided hundreds of professionals globally, many of whom now hold senior roles. Cem’s coaching philosophy emphasizes technical excellence, strategic thinking, and ethical leadership.
He began his career at OEA Incorporated in Denver as a Project Manager for U.S. military programs, leading high-impact engineering initiatives supporting national defense. He later joined Procter & Gamble as a Product Development Manager for Ariel Powder Detergents, earning two patents for environmentally friendly bleach technologies.
Cem holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado and a B.S. from Istanbul Technical University.

Prior Experience

Over the course of my career at Colgate-Palmolive, I had the privilege of mentoring dozens of professionals across various functions and geographies. I focused on helping individuals navigate complex career decisions, build strategic thinking capabilities, and cultivate authentic leadership styles. Many of those I mentored have gone on to assume senior leadership roles within the company and beyond. My approach combined candid feedback, structured development plans, and a deep commitment to personal growth, always tailored to each individual's strengths and aspirations. Seeing others thrive has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my professional journey.

Why Mentor?

For me, the greatest fulfillment comes from helping others succeed. While I’ve led countless projects and delivered impactful results across many domains, nothing has been more meaningful than the influence I’ve had on people’s lives and careers. The fact that they remember me, speak of me, and carry forward what we built together is the most powerful legacy I could hope for—and it’s exactly why I’m passionate about being a mentor.
