Bio

Hi! I’ve been passionate about accounting ever since I took my first accounting class junior year of high school. I loved that every number had a purpose, and it felt like I was learning an entirely new language—the language of business.

After graduating in 2019, I began my career in public accounting at CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA). During my first two years, I was fortunate to gain experience across audit, tax, and outsourced accounting. I quickly discovered that outsourced accounting was my favorite. I loved helping clients keep their books in order and working with them to improve processes and organization. After more than five years at CLA, I decided it was time for a change and transitioned into industry as a Financial Controller for a technology company, Govineer Solutions. That move has been incredibly impactful for me, giving me more time and flexibility to volunteer and focus on things I’m passionate about outside of work.

I’ve been a CPA since 2020 and a CMA since 2021, and I’ve found both certifications to be extremely valuable throughout my career.

Outside of work, I was raised in Montana, went to college in New Mexico, and have since found my home in North Carolina. I absolutely love dogs and have two of my own. I’m an avid skier and try to make it out west at least once a year. I also love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit some amazing places, including Tanzania, Kazakhstan, and Greece.

Prior Experience

I do not have extensive formal mentoring experience, but I have actively sought out opportunities to support and guide others. While in college, I led tutoring groups through Beta Alpha Psi, the honors organization for accounting and finance students and professionals. I have also volunteered with Junior Achievement on several occasions, helping introduce young students to financial concepts and money management. I volunteered with the NCACPA to answer questions about the profession from college students at High Point University. Additionally, during my time volunteering on the board of IMA’s Albuquerque Chapter, I was part of the effort to launch the state’s first IMA student chapter—an especially rewarding experience that allowed me to help create new opportunities for students interested in the profession.

Why Mentor?

I want to mentor students because I’m incredibly passionate about both the accounting profession and helping students navigate the challenges of college and the transition into the workforce. I genuinely think accounting is really cool (it’s true!) and an incredibly rewarding career path. The more I can encourage students to explore it—especially if they enjoy their accounting courses—the better!

Accounting comes with some unique and overwhelming decisions, such as preparing for the CPA exam, deciding whether to pursue a master’s degree, managing the workload of public accounting, and choosing among the many possible career paths. I want to be someone students feel comfortable reaching out to with questions as they work through those decisions. I want to be able to help students set goals, identify their values, and feel confident as they enter the workforce.

When was in college, I would have really appreciated dedicated, strategic guidance from an accounting professional. I’d love to be that person for someone else!
