Bio

Hi! I’m Marie-Lise, a global marketing and communications leader based in Seattle. I currently work as Senior Global Marketing Communications Manager at SCIEX, where I help turn complex scientific ideas into clear, engaging stories for audiences around the world.
My life and career have been shaped by a global journey. I’m half French and half Costa Rican, and I’ve lived in France, Spain, Costa Rica, Argentina, and the U.S. Moving between countries, cultures, and languages taught me how important adaptability, curiosity, and communication are — not just at work, but in life. I know what it feels like to be the “new person” in a room and to figure things out as you go.
I didn’t always have mentorship early on. It was later in my career that I met incredible mentors who helped me gain clarity, confidence, and direction. Their support truly changed my path, and I often wish I had access to that kind of guidance during my student years. That’s a big reason why I’m passionate about mentoring today — I want to give back what I received and offer students the kind of support I once needed.
Through SetFire’s Sparks Mentorship Program, I hope to be a sounding board as you think about your future — whether that’s choosing a career path, navigating your first job, building confidence, or simply figuring out what you enjoy (and what you don’t!). I would love to help students connect their experiences, values, and interests to real-world opportunities.
Alongside my day-to-day work, I also serve on the Steering Committee for Danaher Associate Resource Groups, where I support inclusive communities across a global organization. This has reinforced my belief that everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.
As a mentor, my goal is simple: to listen, share honestly, and help you see your own potential more clearly. You don’t need to have everything figured out — I certainly didn’t. I’m excited to learn from you and support you as you take your next steps.

Prior Experience

As a people manager, I have strong experience mentoring and developing individuals to support their career growth. At SCIEX, I actively coach the members of my team by helping them define career goals, build critical skills, and pursue development opportunities. In addition, I mentor individuals through the Latinx + Friends Associate Resource Group at Danaher, focusing on areas such as personal branding, communication skills, and professional confidence. Through these experiences, I am committed to empowering others and fostering inclusive growth and development.
