Bio
I am an early-career information security professional with experience across security operations, technical account management, and risk-focused cybersecurity. My background includes SOC and client-facing internship experience involving SIEM-based monitoring and investigation, incident triage, reporting, and operational health assessments, as well as translating technical security findings into actionable insights for stakeholders.
In parallel, I have completed cybersecurity-focused academic coursework and research, along with ongoing certifications and professional training that have strengthened my understanding of detection engineering, cloud security fundamentals, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). Having recently navigated the transition from undergraduate education into the cybersecurity workforce, I plan to focus on helping students connect academic knowledge, certifications, and real-world experience into a practical early-career strategy.
Prior Experience
While I have not held a formal mentorship title in a professional setting prior to this program, I have consistently supported peers and fellow students through informal mentoring. This includes helping others understand cybersecurity career paths, advising on certification prioritization, resume and interview preparation, and sharing practical insights about SOC workflows and entry-level security roles.
I am also currently a mentee myself, which has strengthened my ability to reflect on feedback, communicate expectations clearly, and approach mentoring relationships with empathy, structure, and accountability. This experience allows me to better support others by understanding both sides of the mentor-mentee dynamic.
Why Mentor?
I want to be a Sparks mentor because I remember how uncertain the transition from completing a Bachelor’s degree in the cybersecurity field can feel. There is often a gap between academic preparation and understanding how to position yourself for real-world roles, and I want to help close that gap for other students.
I believe mentorship does not require being far ahead in one’s career, but rather being willing to guide others through challenges you have recently navigated yourself. By mentoring, I hope to provide honest, realistic guidance on early-career decision-making, skill development, and professional growth, while also continuing to learn and grow as a professional myself.
